“As part of the preparation of the new strategy, executives of Vnesheconombank met with representatives of leading financial institutes in Europe, Asia, and America multiple times during 2016,” the bank told Reuters on Monday night.
“During the talks, the existing practices of foreign development banks and promising trends were discussed,” it added. It also said the meetings took place “with a number of representatives of the largest banks and business establishments of the United States, including Jared Kushner, the head of Kushner Companies.”
That appears to conflict with the White House’s version of events, which is that Kushner met with Gorkov as a representative of Trump’s transition team.

In a meeting today with Arab-Americans and Muslims in Dearborn, Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly stood up at one point and threatened to leave after a community advocate accused the department of targeting their communities, according to meeting participants.
The tense exchange took place during a hour-long meeting at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, where Kelly met with several Arab-American and Muslim advocates as part of a visit to metro Detroit. At a separate earlier meeting with immigrant, Latino, and Chaldean advocates, some also criticized the department for allegedly targeting minority groups.

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee acknowledged Monday that he had made a secret visit to the White House last week to view intelligence files he then cited as proof of potentially improper spying activity against President Trump, casting new doubt on the independence of a congressional investigation into Russian election interference.
…bipartisan appeals for an independent probe of Kremlin meddling in the 2016 election and potential connections between Russia and Trump associates.
…noting Nunes was a member of Trump’s transition team.
Trump’s son-in-law and close adviser, Jared Kushner, had privately met in December with the chief executive of a Russian bank being targeted by U.S. sanctions.
…Nunes’s meeting with a source and his review of intelligence material apparently occurred in a secure space for handling classified files within the Eisenhower Executive Office Building adjacent to the White House. Nunes returned to the White House the next day — bypassing colleagues on the House committee — supposedly to brief Trump on what he had learned.
The attempts to keep such matters hidden from public view, however, added to the perception that the Trump administration has failed to be forthcoming about contacts with Russia and is working with allies on Capitol Hill to blunt congressional probes.
…Asked about Nunes’s White House visit, Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said, “Not good. It’s not a confidence builder.” He said “we’re rapidly getting” to the point where a select committee or independent commission is needed to conduct the investigation into Russian meddling.
…Current and former national security officials described Nunes’s trip to the White House complex, apparently late in the evening after he had slipped away from his staff, as highly unusual. Doing so would ordinarily require Nunes and the person he met with to have been cleared in advance and accompanied by an escort — requirements that seemed to undercut White House claims to have no information about the encounter.
“How incredibly irregular,” said Matt Olsen, who served in the Obama administration as the head of the National Counterterrorism Center and the general counsel at the National Security Agency. “The only explanation you’re left with is that this is all being orchestrated by the White House.”
…Kushner met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak at Trump Tower in December, a session also attended by former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who was fired for lying about the nature of his contacts with Kislyak.
On Monday, the White House acknowledged a previously undisclosed meeting between Kushner and Sergey N. Gorkov, chief of Russian government-owned Vnesheconombank. The bank, which handles Russia’s pension funds and deals with development activity for the state, including foreign debts and investments, has been under U.S. sanctions since July 2014, in response to Russia’s intervention in Ukraine.
The bank also has been tied to Russian intelligence services.

If you voted for Trump you’re a hateful moron. If convinced others to vote for him? Well, you’re not just stupid, you’re evil.
In other words, you’re gonna have to do a lot better than this bullshit blog post where you barely give lip-service to taking responsibility for your own ignorance, gullibility, and willingness to spread a political plague through out the country to redeem your stanky, poisonous snake-oil selling self!
You helped elect a man you longer can support. Period. You did wrong, period. And this blog post is nothing in terms of making up for the damage you cause. Nothing. You screwed each and every citizen of this country because you had your head too far up your own ass to see what was glaringly obvious and right in front of you: no one who loves this country or her people should have done ANYTHING to help this man gain power.
Our country is already paying the price for your evil works. There is no, “don’t let this happen.” It already happened. You, and others like you, did this. 20-20 hindsight isn’t going to help you take it back. You fucked yourself, your countrymen, and your country. Own it.
You f*cked up big time and you’re a long way from redeeming your putrid self. Bee-atch.

Hmmm. Ivanka did choose to take a position in her father’s administration. ….And did it in such a sleazy way that she is able to 100% avoid being held to the same legal and protocol standards as any other employee. Plus, she’s an adult and responsible for her own actions and those done in her name….

In yet another WTF moment uncovered from President Donald Trump’s disastrous meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel last weekend, The Sunday Times is reporting that Trump actually serviced the German leader with a fake invoice for $300 billion, for NATO services. From the piece: Donald Trump handed the German chancellor Angela Merkel a bill — thought to be for more than £300bn — for money her country “owed” NATO for defending it when they met last weekend, German government sources have revealed. The bill — handed over during private talks in Washington — was described as “outrageous” by one German minister. “The concept behind putting out such demands is to intimidate the other side, but the chancellor took it calmly and will not respond to such provocations,” the minister said. To be clear, this is not how NATO works, and Germany doesn’t owe the US any such moneys. But at this point, we apparently can’t expect the president to know how NATO works at all.
