Court: No First Amendment right to videorecord police unless you are challenging the police at the time

But that can’t be right — recording in public is protected because of what you could say later using the recording, not because of what you’re saying while you’re recording.

Buy This ‘Ted Cruz Was the Zodiac Killer’ Shirt and Fund Abortions

We would never say definitively that presidential candidate and absolute charmer Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. That’s just a silly internet joke, children, one that’s gaining traction this election cycle and is in no way substantiated by Cruz’s cold dead eyes or his evident lack of human feeling. Stare into those flat, lightless features, behold those awkwardly-held arms, then try to sleep.

‘Black Lives Matter’ Activist Interrupts Clinton Event: “Apologize For Mass Incarceration… I Am Not A Super-Predator”

A “Black Lives Matter” activist, …youth activist Ashley Williams, hoped to draw attention to statements made in 1996 by then-first lady Hillary Clinton about bringing black criminals “to heel” by holding up a large sign.

HILLARY CLINTON: I think we’ve got somebody saying [something] here, have you? “Bring them to heel?”
ASHLEY WILLIAMS, BLACK LIVES MATTER: We want you to apologize for mass incarceration. I’m not a super-predator, Hillary Clinton.
CLINTON: okay fine, we’ll talk about it.
WILLIAMS: Will you apologize to black people for mass incarceration?CLINTON: Well, can I talk, and then maybe you can listen to what I say. Fine. Thank you very much. There are a lot of issues in this campaign. The very first speech that I gave back in April was about criminal justice reform.
WILLIAMS: You called black people “Super-Predators.”
CROWD: You’re being inappropriate, that’s rude.
WILLIAMS: She called black people “super predators,” that is rude. CLINTON: Do you want to hear the facts or do you just want to talk?WILLIAMS: I know that you called black people “super predators” in 1994, please explain it to us. You owe black people an apology.
CROWD: That is inappropriate.
CLINTON: If you give me a chance to talk, I’ll come to your side… You know what! Nobody’s every asked me [this] before. You’re the first person to ask me and I am happy to address it.

At that point, Williams is gently removed from the building.

How We Failed to Protect Kesha

Kesha, a 28-year-old woman who’s been working in the music industry for a full decade, might think she knows what’s best for her. She might think it’s in her best interest to sever all ties with the man who allegedly raped and continually hurt her, but—really—what does she know? Sony’s invested $60 million in her career, their attorneys reminded the judge—what’s an emotional and physical violation compared to that?“

Our interest is in her success,” claimed a Sony lawyer. “Our interest is in Dr. Luke’s success. They are not in the least bit mutually exclusive.” In other words, we know what’s good for her. And what’s good for her is recording six more albums with a company that heard her claims of abuse and said, “Your story means nothing.”

Dear Bernie: I Like You, But These Red Flags Are Too Frequent to Ignore

The problem is that you’re talking to people who sense that something is wrong, are angry about it and want to know where to place the blame. You are giving them a cabal of boogeyman bankers, corporations and allegedly bought politicians to bear the brunt of that resentment. You’re doing this through a fair degree of dishonesty, and the response of your supporters and campaign to any kind of reality check has thus far been to impugn the motives of impartial observers.

Senator, you are forming a mob of angry, misinformed people and then turning it on the likely Democratic nominee. That, Senator, is a dangerous and destructive game. Does your campaign honestly wonder why it has become synonymous with nasty online invective? If you mention the Bernie Bros online, fifty people fitting the profile pop up with abusive comments informing you that they don’t exist. On the eve of the Nevada caucus, one of your supporters attempted to place an obituary for Secretary Clinton in the Las Vegas Sun-Journal. Don’t you think this all might have a little something to do with your “me against the corrupt establishment” bluster?

The Wonder Woman Movie Adds Etta Candy, Diana’s Best Friend and a Total Badass

New set pictures of Wonder Woman filming have revealed that British actress Lucy Davis is seemingly playing one of the most prominent—and hilariously great—supporting characters in Wonder Woman’s comic book history: Etta Candy. And this doesn’t appear to be the New 52 version of the character, but the amazing classic iteration from WW’s debut in the ‘40s.

“Late-breaking sexism”: why younger women aren’t excited about electing a woman president – Vox

Looking around in college or grad school, it’s easy to believe that, in the United States at least, gender equality has largely been achieved. …Women enroll in and finish college at higher rates than men. And these days, no one tells you to give up on your dreams of medical school, find a husband, and settle down.

These dynamics can be a rude awakening for young women who have excelled all their lives, often at institutions that have invested resources, time, and attention into recruiting promising women. They’re experiencing something we call “late-breaking sexism.” It’s the sudden realization that you don’t have the same opportunities as a man, that you will struggle to have both a family and a career, that your participation in the public sphere will always be caveated by your gender.

In short, that although latter-day feminist icons encourage women to “lean in,” they will be met at every step of the way by someone telling them, implicitly or explicitly, to “get back.”

Women in their late 20s and early 30s face a double reckoning — they’re confronted with gendered expectations about family on the one hand, and sexist barriers to their career advancement on the other.
