A belligerent man in a Trump hat was kicked off a flight as a crowd chanted: ‘Lock him up!’

It looked like a weird parody of a Donald Trump campaign rally. “Obviously, the hat provoked some of the stuff,” a passenger recalled.

…Gredoña thinks the chanting started after the man taunted the crowd: “So I succeeded in making you guys waste three-and-a-half hours.”

People then shouted words unprintable.

And one shouted: “Lock him up!”

Then another, and another. “Lock him up, lock him up” — until a Chinese airport terminal sounded much like a latter-day Trump rally, when he and his crowds threatened his presidential campaign opponent, Hillary Clinton, with prison.

…“I was one of those chanters,” Zimmerman said. “I didn’t start it. But oh my God, it was so funny, I couldn’t help myself.”

DeVos Sympathizes with the Accused and Not the Victims in Campus Rape Policies

Ms. Jackson represented sexual assault victims as a private lawyer before joining the Education Department. She is best known for her involvement in attacks against Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign, when she elevated women who had accused former President Bill Clinton of sexual assault or harassment, while denouncing women who accused Mr. Trump of such behavior.

…Catherine E. Lhamon, who led the Education Department’s civil rights office from August 2013 through December 2016, called Ms. Jackson’s claims that investigators were told to fish for violations “patently, demonstrably untrue.” For the department to distinguish between violent and nonviolent assaults in investigations, she added, “portrays a profound misunderstanding of Title IX.”
Ms. Lhamon said investigations under her tenure turned up “jaw-dropping degrees of noncompliance” with sexual assault law.

Well, duh! She works for the pussy grabbing cheeto, of course she is ont he side of rapists and not victims.

White House releases sensitive personal information of voters worried about their sensitive personal information

The White House on Thursday made public a trove of emails it received from voters offering comment on its Election Integrity Commission. The commission drew widespread criticism when it emerged into public view by asking for personal information, including addresses, partial social security numbers and party affiliation, on every voter in the country.
It further outraged voters by planning to post that information publicly.

…Unfortunately for these voters and others who wrote in, the Trump administration did not redact any of their personal information from the emails before releasing them to the public. In some cases, the emails contain not only names, but email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers and places of employment of people worried about such information being made available to the public.

…The White House does not appear to have issued any such public guidelines or warnings before many of the emails were sent.

Ryan: House will modernize dress code

Some female Capitol Hill journalists have recently been barred from entering the Speaker’s lobby, the private hallway connected to the House chamber, because they were wearing sleeveless dresses or open-toed shoes. That sparked complaints from reporters about selective enforcement of the dress code, which only calls for professional attire.

Ryan’s announcement came a day after Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) ridiculed the dress code during a speech on the House floor, saying she was dressed professionally, “which happens to be a sleeveless dress and open-toes shoes.”

“We also don’t need to bar otherwise accepted contemporary business attire, so look for a change on that soon.”

Congresswoman urges colleagues to “bare arms” for “Sleeveless Friday”

This comes a day after Speaker Paul Ryan announced that he is looking to modernize the dress code in the House, which was inspired by a viral CBS News story …about several female reporters who were kicked out of the Speaker’s lobby recently because they were wearing sleeveless dresses and their shoulders weren’t covered. While the supposed policy is not new, it’s been inconsistently enforced and has not been precisely outlined in the rulebooks.

The only existing House rule says that men are required to wear a coat and tie and women are supposed to wear “appropriate attire.”

Inside Israel’s Secret Program to Get Rid of African Refugees

They were promised asylum somewhere closer to home. Then they were discarded — often in a war zone.

None of the things Israeli authorities had promised the 12 Eritreans when they had agreed to relocate to Rwanda a few weeks prior. Instead, John offered to smuggle them into neighboring Uganda, which he told them was a “free nation.” “If you live here, you can’t leave,” Semene recalled John saying of Rwanda. “It’s a tight country. Let me advise you, as your brother, you need to go to Uganda.”

They would need to sneak across the border, since they had no proof of legal entry into Rwanda. (The Israeli laissez-passers had gone unstamped at the Kigali airport the night before, an oversight that now felt suspicious.) But John told them not to worry; he could easily get them into Uganda for a fee of $250. “I have everything,” he said. “Contacts with the government over there. Contacts with the Israeli government. If something happens, I call the Israeli government and they do something for you.”

The alternative, John said, was to remain in the Kigali house, where they would be under constant surveillance. They would have to pay rent, but without documentation, they would not be allowed to work. Semene and the others understood that John was not really giving them a choice.

Disgusting but not so surprising from a government who seems to prides itself on how much more racist, opressive, and abusive it can get each year that passes.

A suggested list of questions for Ashton Kutcher’s session on gender and technology

Ashton Kutcher received an earful when he suggested a series of questions about women in technology. To be fair, his questions did demonstrate a very [weak and ignorant bro-culture] level understanding of the problems women face. It seems like he just doesn’t talk to many.

…a series of questions that could help:

  1. Although female led companies are often more profitable, investors often overlook them in their “formula for success.” What can we do to better spread this message?
  2. Women represent a bigger growth market than India and China combined. How can we get more women in the investment community, so that we can better tap into this?
  3. Female entrepreneurs are often judged more harshly than their male counterparts. What articles/studies should investors read and study to prevent their own gender bias?
  4. What should investment firms do to better identify and take action against employees who harass female founders?
  5. What is the best course of action for a woman who has encountered sexual harassment in the tech investment community? How can she best avoid the retribution that often follows turning down these advances?
  6. Some high level professions such as medicine and law are near or at gender parity. What factors can the tech industry copy to see the same kind of success?

Oh Ashton, are you really that clueless and ignorant? Or just plain old stupid?

Andy Murray owns BBC reporter who forgot that women play tennis too

Britain’s Andy Murray has won his second Olympic gold medal by beating Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro after an excruciating four-hour match.

BBC’s [dinosaur] John Inverdale seemed to forget the existence of women and told Murray during an interview that he was the first person to win two tennis golds at the Olympics.

That didn’t go well with Murray, who corrected him:

“Venus and Serena have won four each.”

Andy Murray calls for more women on Centre Court in sexism row over scheduling

Andy Murray has urged Wimbledon to begin play on Centre Court earlier as he became involved in a sexism row over the tournament scheduling.

Critics have complained that the All England Club’s show courts – Centre and Court One – are routinely hosting two men’s games and only one women’s match per day.

…Murray and Venus Williams led the calls for the tournament to begin holding four matches a day on the courts.

….Murray was one of a number of players who said the club needed to find a way to split the men’s and women’s matches fairly across the courts.

…”I think ideally you would have two men’s and two women’s on Centre, potentially starting the matches a bit earlier would allow for that,” he said.

In Trump era’s first leak arrest, the news site will help fund Reality Winner’s defense.

…, the site — founded by the crusading journalists Glenn Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill and Laura Poitras — came under fire for inadvertently failing in that core mission. Now, having taken a deep look at what happened, the Intercept has adopted some reforms, and its parent company is helping a young whistleblower who has been charged under the Espionage Act.

The Trump administration charged 25-year-old Reality Leigh Winner, a former Air Force linguist, with leaking classified information — just hours after the Intercept published a story based on a National Security Agency document describing efforts by Russian military intelligence to hack into America’s voting system.
