Walz: A Democrat’s case for charter schools

Boston charter schools achieve tremendous results. They rank among the top public schools in the state, with long wait lists.

Walz: A Democrat’s case for charter schools | Boston Herald

I actually love Marty Walz but she is dead wrong on this.

Charter schools siphon resources away from other public schools, further weakening them. Period.

Charter schools leave children who have less resources at home behind, effectively sentencing them to a lifetime of reduced circumstances.

Charter schools prioritize the advancement of the few over improvements for all.

…And that is the opposite of what the public education system is for.

On the other hand, I do believe this is what the majority of her constituents believe and you can’t fault her for representing them.

Congrats girl! Fiancé of former Miss California scoops his 25th medal

Nicole Johnson must be beside herself today as her arm-candy and baby daddy Michael Phelps scoops his 25th medal!

The strapping Olympian, a fiancé and father-of-one, has outdone all expectations, nabbing three gold medals so far in Rio for his efforts in swimming.

The 31-year-old shows he’s not past it yet and stole the show at yesterday’s events in Rio wearing skintight blue swim trunks as he sped into first place. His black swim cap accentuated his statuesque features, while he completed the look with stylish but functional wrap-around goggles.

The man behind Nicole is now the most decorated Olympian of all time, and she must be so proud of him!

Michael, who started dating Nicole in 2009, got engaged earlier this year, and remains unmarried so far. He should be praised for how well he manages to juggle plans for the upcoming wedding with his Olympic training and looking after the couple’s young son Boomer (who was born in May! Should he really be so far from home so early after the birth?).

It looks like some guys really can have it all!

U.S. will affirm its prohibition on medical marijuana

The Drug Enforcement Agency will allow more places to grow marijuana for research purposes

U.S. will affirm its prohibition on medical marijuana – The Washington Post

No rescheduling it is an expensive drain on tax payer resources that benefits no one except big pharma, big oil, and alcohol producers. Not to mention that it is disproportionately affects lower income people and -in effect- diverts hundreds of thousands of young people away from school and a career and into a lifetime of a being tax-payer drain member of the American Injustice System school instead.

It also hampers medical research and goes against the supposed position the President took on letting states make their own laws.

The DEA, like most law enforcement agencies in this country, is wholly out of step with society and its stated purpose.

Boo, Mr President!

Amazing. Especially the last few paragraphs.

Ahhh, Olympics. One of the reason I love you so is that I firmly believe sport is one of the few reliable ways to highlight the common threads among us and weave us together with shared humanity.

GOP senator Susan Collins: Why I cannot support Trump

(The writer, a Republican, represents Maine in the Senate.)

I will not be voting for Donald Trump for president. This is not a decision I make lightly, for I am a lifelong Republican. But Donald Trump does not reflect historical Republican values nor the inclusive approach to governing that is critical to healing the divisions in our country.

…I have become increasingly dismayed by his constant stream of cruel comments and his inability to admit error or apologize. But it was his attacks directed at people who could not respond on an equal footing — either because they do not share his power or stature or because professional responsibility precluded them from engaging at such a level — that revealed Mr. Trump as unworthy of being our president.

…My conclusion about Mr. Trump’s unsuitability for office is based on his disregard for the precept of treating others with respect, an idea that should transcend politics. Instead, he opts to mock the vulnerable and inflame prejudices by attacking ethnic and religious minorities.

…I revere the history of my party, most particularly the value it has always placed on the worth and dignity of the individual, and I will continue to work across the country for Republican candidates. It is because of Mr. Trump’s inability and unwillingness to honor that legacy that I am unable to support his candidacy.

Questions arise over think-tank donors – POLITICO

“Think tanks, which position themselves as ‘universities without students,’ have power in government policy debates because they are seen as researchers independent of moneyed interests. But in the chase for funds, think tanks are pushing agendas important to corporate donors, at times blurring the line between researchers and lobbyists. And they are doing so while reaping the benefits of their tax-exempt status, sometimes without disclosing their connections to corporate interests.”

Marc Lamont Hill on Not Being Afraid of Trump: ‘We Can Afford to Lose an Election, We Can’t Afford to Lose Our Values’

Marc Lamont Hill, Morehouse College Distinguished Professor of African-American Studies, New York Times best-selling author of Nobody, VH1 talk show host and a much-sought-after political and cultural commentator….

…I’m not scared of Trump. I’m scared of us as a country moving in the wrong direction. … Republicans are always talking about terrorism, but Democrats are playing on a certain kind of terrorism, too. They’re essentially saying, ‘If you don’t vote for us, then you’re going to have Donald Trump and your life will be ruined.’ If you frame that as the choice, you never get to demand what you actually deserve and what you actually want

…every four years we say, ‘The third party can’t win.’ So we never invest in the third party. We never grow the third party. If they get 5 percent of the vote, they can be in the debates. And if they’re in the debates, now we can change the conversation.

… would rather have Trump be president for four years and build a real left-wing movement that can get us what we deserve as a people, than to let Hillary be president and we stay locked in the same space where we don’t get what we want.

Marc Lamont Hill on Not Being Afraid of Trump: ‘We Can Afford to Lose an Election, We Can’t Afford to Lose Our Values’

Oh, wow…

Respect lost.

Especially for his intellect.

You really want to build a third party instead of just grandstanding and not being part of the solution? Support local third party candidates from the bottom of the ticket up and create the infrastructure necessary for a viable national campaign. (Dipshit.) Anything else is just hot air and self-important bullshit

Native American Council offers amnesty to 220 million undocumented whites

.The “white” problem has been a topic of much debate in the Native American community for centuries, and community leaders have decided the time has come to properly address it.

…”We are prepared to offer White people the option of staying on this continent legally and applying for citizenship,” explains Chief Wamsutta of the Wampanoag nation.

…Illegal white immigration has been rapidly increasing for nearly 400 years from the European countries of France, Spain and England.  These illegals have ravished the land and colonized areas occupied by the natives.

Liberal Redneck Trae Crowder: Hillary Clinton, Russia and ‘damn emails’

The Daily News’ Hillbilly-in-Chief Trae Crowder, and his mustache, finds it hilarious “our nation’s first memaw candidate” is weighed down by controversy over how emails work.

…Crowder thinks the DNC email leak “is the Deflategate of election scandals.” Alright, it was “shady,” but he’s not sure he would have gone the way of The Donald by asking Russia to commit espionage against our country.
