Thousands of college students could lose scholarships they get from Louisiana’s popular Taylor Opportunity Program for Students and state-funded health clinics could be shuttered, if lawmakers are unable to find another way to fill the looming $750 million budget shortfall.

…TOPS was created as an incentive for Louisiana high schoolers to stay in the state for college and as a pathway for students who otherwise would not be able to afford to stay in school after they finish the 12th grade.

…Other cutbacks the latest plan identifies: Higher education would take a $46.1 million hit, Corrections would be cut $34.1 million, the judicial branch would face a $15.9 million cut, and the legislative budget would be slashed $7.3 million.

sigh… #42 could ave handled better but I have no respect for people who engage in that kind of protest. I think it does a disservice to an extremely important cause.

Officials from California Attorney General Kamala Harris’ office reportedly executed a search of anti-choice activist David Daleiden’s home late Tuesday. The search appears to be connected with an investigation into whether Daleiden violated California law when he and associates surreptitiously recorded abortion providers in the state.

The first female recruits at Recruit Training Command were issued their new enlisted white hats, or Dixie cups, as part of the Navy’s efforts for uniformity in service members’ uniform, April 4.

“…I feel that females have been performing to the standard equal to their male counterparts, and right now, with these new covers, we look more as a team.”
