Does Elsa need a prince or princess? Or nobody?

Twitter has sparked a ‘Frozen’-frenzy this week, with fans asking Disney to give Elsa a happily-ever-after in the film’s sequel. But fans differ on whom, if anybody, Elsa should love.

…”Even in Brave, the film still centered largely around a marriage story line – the idea that Merida was trying to escape a betrothal she didn’t want,” Megan Zander writes for the parenting blog SheKnows. “Elsa was different. Her story line marked the first time that Disney told a story about a female character that had no mention of romance or marriage…. At the conclusion of the film, Elsa was happy in her own right. Regardless of her sexuality, she was content on her own, and that’s something kids could benefit from seeing, which is why she should stay as she is, a fierce, self-sufficient, single woman.”

Kelly Ripa MIA

…Ripa committed the cardinal sin of “being angry while female,” a misstep that puts perpetrators at risk of being called shrill, bitchy, crazy, high-maintenance, ruthless, ambitious (if you’re running for president), or, yes, a diva.

Michael Strahan, meanwhile, did not show up for the charity event he was supposed to co-host last night. But who will pay the price for his diva behavior?!

Thinking They’re ‘Unqualified’ Is A Big Reason More Women Don’t Run For Office

…the Vermont senator said something that stuck in the craws of many: that Hillary Clinton isn’t qualified to be president.

“She has been saying lately that she thinks I am not quote unquote qualified to be president,” Sanders said. “Let me just say in response to Secretary Clinton: I don’t believe that she is qualified if she is, through her super-PAC, taking tens of millions of dollars in special interests’ funds.”

First Female Recruits Issued ‘Dixie Cup’ Covers at RTC

The first female recruits at Recruit Training Command were issued their new enlisted white hats, or Dixie cups, as part of the Navy’s efforts for uniformity in service members’ uniform, April 4.

“…I feel that females have been performing to the standard equal to their male counterparts, and right now, with these new covers, we look more as a team.”

Bangert: Alting gets dose of ‘Periods for Pence’

Sen. Ron Alting said his office expected to field calls about his vote on House Bill 1337, Indiana’s controversial new restrictions on abortion. But was Alting’s staff prepared for women to call and report their menstrual cycles to the Lafayette Republican?

“No, of course not,” Alting said Monday afternoon.

For the past week, Hoosier women have joined the trolling protest of “Periods for Pence,” a social media movement that has drummed up more than 16,000 likes since its Facebook page was created March 28. The upshot: They have been bombarding operators in Gov. Mike Pence’s office, offering mocking updates on their cycles and asking for advice on what to do at that time of the month – all in response to provisions in House Bill 1337, which Pence signed into law March 24.

“…My favorite response was the woman who said, ‘Ma’am, I’m going to have to refer you to your doctor for those sorts of questions,’” Austin said. “I replied, ‘I would love to keep this between myself and my doctor, but unfortunately the government of the state of Indiana is making that impossible.’ … I think the main thing is that these decisions are private, and particularly in the case of miscarriage, are almost always traumatic enough without the state stepping in and adding further trauma to the mothers and families who are experiencing it. Can you imagine, losing a wanted child and having to bury or cremate the remains?”

Nicely done, ladies, nicely done.
