The officers and facility staff who participated in this farce need to be arrested and charged with kidnapping and assault. The doctor who penned her diagnosis should immediately be stripped of his license and she should sue the hospital into ruins for aiding and abetting the police in committing some very serious crimes.

When White Feminists Respond to Anti-Racism Like Men Respond to Feminism

When White Feminists Respond to Anti-Racism Like Men Respond to Feminism — Everyday Feminism

If I see another article from Black Feminists or White Feminists labeling each other and giving holier-than-thou, overly verbose sermons on how the “other” (or even “their own”) group of feminists are bad feminists/progressives/people I am going to loose my shit. The only articles feminists seems to write anymore are ones talking about race. And how bad “other” feminists are.

Ladies, I hate to break it to you but you all suck as feminists. If you spend more time talking about race than gender when you’re discussing feminism you not only suck at being a feminist, you have some serious comprehension problems as well.

Stop talking about racial divisions, stop dividing women up along overly-simplistic racial lines and spend a lot more time working on feminist issues. Together. Seriously. For the love of God, stop helping the bad guys divide and conquer.

P.S. Nobody who doesn’t already agree with you is going to read a comic that long. Ever. Get over your well-intentioned self and stop being such a trite, smug asshole.

The Difference Between Cultural Exchange and Cultural Appropriation

The Difference Between Cultural Exchange and Cultural Appropriation — Everyday Feminism

This is not in response to to this article. The stream of thought below is in response to the whole discussion of privilege that has really been making itself felt online in last few years. It is always a good thing to call out the realities of a situation, I’m all for it. I thoughts about whether or not it continues to achieve the goals behind it.

I am so over the use of the privilege verbiage. We need to move on to a state of awareness that is less centered on the self and more centered on others.

I would propose that instead of, “So as free as people should be to wear whatever hair and clothing they enjoy, using someone else’s cultural symbols to satisfy a personal need for self-expression is an exercise in privilege.” one might say, “People are and should be to express themselves by wearing whatever hair and clothing they enjoy. Always be respectful when you are someone else’s cultural symbols in your self-expression.”

Privilege is an erudite way of saying, ‘don’t be an ass, be respectful.’ Despite the overwhelming good intention behind conversations about privilege, it comes off as self-satisfied and holier-than-thou.

There’s another real dry and pragmatic thing I don’t like about it. Talking about constant guilt earned by something a person doesn’t get a choice in isn’t exactly a sell-point. It’s not like the first impression a person has upon hearing about privilege guilt is, ‘That sounds awesome! Where can I sign up for some that?’

There’s this aspect of permanence to the idea of privilege. Privilege isn’t a way of working past differences. It’s a constant responsibility without a light at the end of the tunnel. Framing the conversation that way seems to make it harder to convince anyone get on board.

Why not have a conversation about respect instead? That’s a much more empowering and rewarding conversation for everyone.

I’m not saying sweep anything under rug, I’m saying it would be nice if was about respect instead of guilt. I think it would accomplish much, much more that way.

Trump Calls For Deportation Of Jeb’s Mexican Wife | God

Donald Trump vowed to deport Jeb Bush’s Mexican-born wife on Monday as he called to end the policy of citizenship by marriage.“She has to go,” Trump said via conference call of Jeb Bush’s Mexican-American wife, adding: “What she’s doing, she’s having sex with an American. And then all of a sudden she’s American? That doesn’t make her American.”

Spouses of United States citizens have been able gain permanent resident status and seek citizenship (after 3 years) since the adoption of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution in 1868.

On the conference call one reporter asked if Trump’s policy would affect his own wife Melania, who immigrated to the USA from her native country of Slovenia.“No, Melania is a beautiful piece of ass so this doesn’t apply to her. We’re talking about Mexicans here, stop trying to change the subject. Go back to Mexico!”
