Dear Donald Trump: I played in the NFL. Here’s what we really talk about in the locker room.

We talk about what country might make a good safe haven if a Russian-backed presidential candidate whose foreign policy agenda can best be described as “gross negligence mixed with a spicy dash of treason” were to have control of our nation’s nuclear arsenal, and whether his stubby little baby fingers are strong enough to push in the launch codes on sturdy military-grade hardware.

Kluwe is the best.

Politicians shouldn’t need “daughters and wives” to know Trump is a misogynist creep.

Trump’s comments condone sexual assault. They suggest that he and his willing interlocutor, Billy Bush, can’t see their female colleagues as anything but collections of fuckable or unfuckable body parts. They exhibit a complete disregard for women’s humanity, agency, and internal lives.

But to some men who’ve watched the video, there’s only one reason to protest the candidate’s unwillingness to extend basic decency and respect to people who are women: daughters.

…A popular strain of Twitter reaction from the peanut gallery asks, “How could a man with daughters say such a thing?” as if it’s totally understandable why a man without daughters might casually boast about committing sexual assault.

Politicians shouldn’t need “daughters and wives” to know Trump is a misogynist creep.

Sigh….

You Don’t Need A Daughter To Know Trump Bragging About Sexual Assault Is Vile

…Romney and Bush and the other men who framed their criticism of Trump this way certainly mean well. But their comments imply that women are only worthy of basic respect in relation to men. Without wives, daughters, sisters and granddaughters, would men be unable to muster some base-level compassion for female human beings? …Most men are better than that.

…By refusing to simply condemn Trump’s horror, and instead framing it as an insult only to women or to “our daughters and wives,” these men are treating women as objects. Kind of like how Trump treats women as objects ― calling them pigs, rating their looks, etc.

There seems to be this idea out there that men can only understand sexism, rape or harassment if they think about the victim as a daughter or wife. Why would that be? It’s about thinking of women as possessions. Imagine if Trump was bragging about stealing a [guitar.] And you had to tell someone, “Imagine if I stole your guitar you really love,” in order for them to understand that stealing was wrong.

…When you only conceive of women’s humanity in relation to the men in their lives, that becomes the only way to explain the horror of sexual assault.

…In these men’s estimations, women are only people when they are connected in some way to other men.

Please understand that’s absurd. Women are people all of the time.

…To summarize: Women are humans. Humans don’t deserve to be assaulted. The end.

From ‘Locker Room Talk’ to ‘Muslims Report Stuff,’ the Internet Strikes BackYork Times

Another prominent thread began after Mr. Trump answered a debate question about Islamophobia from an audience member, Gorbah Hamed, by saying: “We have to be sure that Muslims come in and report when they see something going on. When they see hatred going on they have to report it.”

I was watching the debate and when Trump said the bit about reporting things I turned to my Peanut Gallery co-conspirators and said,

“Yeah, I totally know what he means. Except, I think it is white mostly-Christian people who need to start doing that instead. I mean, I get nervous when I see a single white male walk into a movie theater. What is that  bulge around his waist? Is it a gun or a spare tire? Those people can go crazy at the drop of a hat, man. We need to start reporting when white men act weird or do something to threaten our national security.

…Speaking of which. IS there a number I can call to report Trump?”

Poland’s parliament withdraws proposed abortion ban

Poland’s parliament has rejected proposed legislation that would have imposed a near-total ban on abortion.

Current law allows abortion through the 12th week of pregnancy if the woman’s health or life is endangered, if the pregnancy results from a crime, or if the fetus is irreparably damaged.

European politicians from various liberal parties welcomed the news of the proposed ban’s rejection on Twitter, which is being seen as a victory for womens’ rights following the protests earlier this week.

On Monday, thousands of women in Poland took the day off work and school to take part in a pro-choice march to mark what organizers called “Black Monday”.

The day of action was inspired by a 1975 women’s strike in Iceland.

Trump Spoke For 62 Percent Of The Debate, Clinton For 38 Percent — But That’s How It Always Is For Women

It doesn’t come as a huge surprise that Donald Trump took up the majority of the airtime during the first presidential debate Monday night. Anyone watching could see that, as usual, he was talking more than he was listening.

…The issue of women being professionally silenced — even at this highest level — is so well understood by women in politics that one story went viral just this month about the tactics women in Obama’s White House used to make sure their voices were actually heard in meetings.

10 Emotional Abuse Tactics That Trump Blatantly Used in the First Debate

Did you notice any of these in the presidential debate? Emotional and verbal abuse are being normalized – so let’s shed some light to show what’s really going on.

Sigh…

I get where the ladies are coming from on this but I have to admit the lens they are using and the language they use to frame it rubs me the wrong way.

Heightening the awareness of this sort of of behavior as “abuse” naturally reinforces the image of women as victims. After all, you can’t have an abuser without there also being a victim…. It allows to defaults to a rigid us against them delineation of gender. The suggestion that men are the defacto abuser and women the perpetual victim isn’t overt but is definitely present. It just seems to me that reinforcing the weakened, victim archetype of femininity (and oppressive, abusive nature of males) is counter-intuitive to the goal of empowering women.

Would the article really be all that less effective if they referred to Trump’s behaviors as “10 Classic Moves Only Assholes Employ?”

High School Boys Treated Like Women in Congress

Men make up 80% of congress, which means they have the majority vote on issues that directly affect women. This EPIC high school teacher is on a mission to show his male students what it feels like for the women in congress who don’t have an equal say on policies that specifically affect females. In a vote about school policies, the tables have turned… 80% female students and 20% male students vote on policies such as reduced dance ticket prices for women and location of men’s lockers. How do the male students feel when they are outnumbered and outvoted?

Women in Iran Mount Protest Against Bicycling Ban

Iranian women have taken to their bicycles to oppose a religious ruling banning them from riding in public places. The unexpected “fatwa,” or religious ruling, by the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, says a woman riding a bicycle not only attracts the attention of men, but also “exposes the society to sedition.”

Jeezum, when are those hateful old men going to die off? What a bunch of perverted assholes they come off as. If you are that threatened by someone on a bicycle? The problem isn’t the person riding the bike, the problem -and sedition to society- is 100% you.
