Is Ted Cruz the Zodiac Killer? A Conversation with the Conspiracy Theorists (and Twitter Comedians)
heh
We would never say definitively that presidential candidate and absolute charmer Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. That’s just a silly internet joke, children, one that’s gaining traction this election cycle and is in no way substantiated by Cruz’s cold dead eyes or his evident lack of human feeling. Stare into those flat, lightless features, behold those awkwardly-held arms, then try to sleep.

Public Policy Polling, which had previously asked Republican voters if they support bombing Disney’s fictional kingdom of Agrabah (they do), is currently hitting up Floridians with the biggest question of all: Is Ted Cruz the elusive Zodiac Killer? Maybe!

Kesha, a 28-year-old woman who’s been working in the music industry for a full decade, might think she knows what’s best for her. She might think it’s in her best interest to sever all ties with the man who allegedly raped and continually hurt her, but—really—what does she know? Sony’s invested $60 million in her career, their attorneys reminded the judge—what’s an emotional and physical violation compared to that?“
Our interest is in her success,” claimed a Sony lawyer. “Our interest is in Dr. Luke’s success. They are not in the least bit mutually exclusive.” In other words, we know what’s good for her. And what’s good for her is recording six more albums with a company that heard her claims of abuse and said, “Your story means nothing.”
How We Failed to Protect Kesha

Being put through the legal and emotional wringer doesn’t guarantee justice.

New set pictures of Wonder Woman filming have revealed that British actress Lucy Davis is seemingly playing one of the most prominent—and hilariously great—supporting characters in Wonder Woman’s comic book history: Etta Candy. And this doesn’t appear to be the New 52 version of the character, but the amazing classic iteration from WW’s debut in the ‘40s.

Looking around in college or grad school, it’s easy to believe that, in the United States at least, gender equality has largely been achieved. …Women enroll in and finish college at higher rates than men. And these days, no one tells you to give up on your dreams of medical school, find a husband, and settle down.
These dynamics can be a rude awakening for young women who have excelled all their lives, often at institutions that have invested resources, time, and attention into recruiting promising women. They’re experiencing something we call “late-breaking sexism.” It’s the sudden realization that you don’t have the same opportunities as a man, that you will struggle to have both a family and a career, that your participation in the public sphere will always be caveated by your gender.
In short, that although latter-day feminist icons encourage women to “lean in,” they will be met at every step of the way by someone telling them, implicitly or explicitly, to “get back.”
Women in their late 20s and early 30s face a double reckoning — they’re confronted with gendered expectations about family on the one hand, and sexist barriers to their career advancement on the other.

Creatives everywhere fetishize maker culture and the glory of handmade creation. But the line between DIY authenticity and insufferable hipsterism is a thin one, and Internet videos celebrating maker culture—they’re everywhere—can be an absolute horror to sit through. Except for this one.

“There are people breaking down, dropping out of classes and failing classes because of the activism work they are taking on,” said David.
Schoolwork, advocacy place strain on student activists
An article more sympathetic to the students.
…Which I am. I just think they need to learn how to balance out work and passion to succeed in either. …And that isn’t a point of view that seems to pervade higher education right now. I think the students are missing out on some life skills and perspective which might enable them to accomplish more and that is shame.
I understand the need to want to follow your heart but there is nothing dishonorable in getting more mundane things done as well.

It is wonderful that they want to change the world. IT’s wonderful that they care but it seems like they are missing a does of perspective to balance out their passions. How do these student expect accomplish change and balance in the world around them if they can’t maintain balance in their own lives? It seems like keeping your own shit together would better enable you to have more energy to put into the cause. What’s the phrase, live to fight another day?
In the new gender binary, he has no home. Cisgender vs. transgender. He’s neither.
In the old gender binary, he has no home. Male vs. female. He’s neither.
So, still, I find myself fighting a gender binary while explaining my son’s gender identity and expression.
…When I saw transgender education and acceptance coming to the forefront, I expected things to be different.
I thought that if society could see, start to understand and accept transgender people (which some consider to be at the very extreme end of the cisgender-transgender gender binary), that they would have no problem at all accepting all of the people who are “just” gender nonconforming.
We have to get beyond trans. Let’s make that the next social movement. Let’s get to the point where we say, “Hey, I don’t know if that person is male or female or both or neither, so I’m just going to treat them like a person” or “My brain tells me to use female pronouns for that person but the person tells me to use masculine pronouns, so I’m going to masculine pronouns because what the hell does it matter to me?!” or “That guy likes to wear skirts. Cool.”
Let’s respect every person’s unique gender journey by not believing in any binary. Let’s bust the binary. Once and for all.
