One male student, Michael Calderon, said that the extreme physical and mental conditions the service members were exposed to made things like gender seem arbitrary.

“You’re way too tired and hungry to actually care,” he said. “At the end of the day, everyone was a Ranger.”

Fuck what the military wants. They didn’t want to integrate either. The military serves the country and every single member of the military takes orders from someone. If they don’t like it, tough. They serve us and not the other way around.

If the order is given to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly, the US military needs to act like members of a well disciplined military and follow their fucking orders.

A major problem might be determining how to reconcile the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” with federal law that defines marriage as between a man a woman, the official added.

….As in the sub-title to an AP article I found on abc.com about the ongoing battle between the ACLU and the White House over whether or not to release pictures of detainees being subjected to abuse by their American captors.

Obviously endangering the troops is bad. Invoking new powers to do so strikes me as pretty bad too though. Then again, what do I know? I’m only a voter.
