Stillwater, Oklahoma, ditches rule on face masks in businesses

An emergency proclamation requiring face masks in stores and restaurants in Stillwater, Oklahoma, was nixed after store and restaurant owners received threats.

…But on Friday, Mayor Will Joyce softened the rule to encourage, not require, face coverings, after several reports emerged of employees being verbally abused and being threatened with physical violence while trying to enforce the order — all in just three hours of the rule going into effect.

  1. You know, I was reading someone else’s blog and they said that the Costco in their neck of the woods is still enforcing all the rules and insisting on face masks (think he’s in Nevada), even when the restrictions are eased everywhere, or people will be asked to leave. Some are being harsh about it online, others are totally cool with it.

Where I’m at, very few people wear masks or gloves. I don’t care if I look weird to everybody else, I’m gonna wear ’em. Or better yet, I’ll avoid the north side where that’s most common and shop further south where far more people are taking it seriously.
