White House summons McChrystal | Reuters
The points he makes get lost in the office gossip sniping. They really, really should have just stuck with the facts and left the editorializing to the media. It’s all the media does these days anyways.
McChrystal Is Summoned to Washington Over Remarks – NYTimes.com
“Obama clearly didn’t know anything about him, who he was,” the aide said. “Here’s the guy who’s going to run his [expletive] war, but he didn’t seem very engaged. The boss was pretty disappointed.”
General, I feel you. There are lot of us who wish the POTUS was a wee bit more informed and engaged. On a lot of subjects.
Cable News likes to characterize Obama as having too much or too little emotions. They’re missing the point. Who the hell cares what Obama thinks or feels? What matters is how he does his job and quite frankly he doesn’t seem to be too into doing the actual “work” part of the job.
Gen. Stanley McChrystal coming to Washington to explain anti-administration comments
Not only can he not accomplish anything, he can’t even keep his own people under control. Seriously, military people are pretty used to taking orders and following them even when they don’t agree. When they go rogue you pretty much suck at leading.
Israel Eases Gaza Blockade: Gains for Hamas and Turkey? – TIME
“Giving up on the political strategy of systemically depriving Gaza’s civilian population so that they would turn against Hamas… …was, in fact, part of an anti-Hamas strategy shared by the Western powers. While the Obama Administration had expressed misgivings about the strategy of collective punishment in Gaza, it never demanded a change in the Gaza blockade in the same way that it insisted, for example, that Israel halt settlement construction.”
So sad but so very true that there is a lot of blame to go around.
Israel’s easing of Gaza blockade doesn’t address banking, travel rules – CSMonitor.com
A good start but I hope the push for an investigation into the attack on the Turkish flotilla doesn’t diminish on iota in the light of this.
One of the things that bugs me so much about the Israeli government’s treatment of the Palestinian population is that it is so counterproductive.
Their tactics serve only to remove all peaceful opportunities for the residents of Gaza to improve the quality of their lives. Without the ability to properly care for and educate their young people, without any economic opportunities, what exactly does the Israeli government think the Palestinians are going to spend their time doing? Sit around and get very angry perhaps? What avenues are left for them to express their dissatisfaction with the completely racist and unfair treatment they receive at the hands of their neighbor other than violence?
It’s just so self-defeating on the part of the government of Israel.
Unless, of course, the plan is to push the Palestinians into open violent revolt so that Israeli government finally has an excuse to exterminate the entire population…
…Which sounds a little familiar if you think about it.
