New security law

The Malaysian government has introduced a new law to limit detentions of people suspected of terrorism or security offences. The proposed law, designed to replace legislation that allowed indefinite detention without trial, states that a suspect may be detained for the purposes of an investigation and that, after 28 days, the public prosecutor must either send the case to trial or release the suspect.

Defying Trends, Killings of Police Officers Are on the Rise – NYTimes.com

Well, let’s see.
Relationships with communities continue to deteriorate.
Police keep becoming more and more entitled and above the law, further alienating them from the people they are supposed to be protecting.
Shows like Law And Order regularly reinforce the fact that it is OK when cops break the law or piss all over people rights and human dignity.
Pissing on people tends to breed anger and resentment.
Police are no longer seen as a beacon of protection but as an enemy out to persecute the populous.
What could go wrong???
