How a Brutal Strain of American Aristocrats Have Come to Rule America
hmmmmmmmmm
What goes through my my mind when I read the news with my morning coffee. …Or for the Simon's Rockers in the group, this is my response journal.
Brilliant!
OK, that is hyperbole. It still could be a little smoother and zingier but it is very, very good. Considering it is coming out of the left? Considering the source it definitely is in brilliant’s neighborhood.
My complaints would be that it is definitely well crafted but I wonder if some amount of ability to engage and connect with the viewer has been sacrificed in an effort to not only appeal to the everyman but to every
(hu)man.
I could have lived without the newspaper graphic hanging out on the screen next to Romney’s face for so long. Really I could have lived without that graphic at all. (It’s up there for so long I found myself distracted by it. What am I supposed to do with that? I can’t read it…)
The white shirt with the rolled up sleeves is a little awkward but nice touch with the lavender tie.
Speaking of white, the combination of the announcer and the music is really, really, really white. I mean, Whoa! That’s some pretty white white right there. There’s white, white, whitey white, and white. …And there are people who are so white they don’t even eat hummus. To be crass there is significant value in his setting a really white tone. (in polite terms, “mass appeal.” to be more crass: bland and nonthreatening.) It definitely hit the mark on that front. Almost overboard but really right on target.
The beginning was there to set up the tagline. It’s well done but not out of the ordinary. The spot starts to shine when he comes out from behind the podium. He’s not only in the factory but he looks actively interested and engaged in the situtation. They aren’t just walking by the machines as he listens to the factory worker give him a canned tour. They are discussing what is in front of them. To signify Obama’s involvement in the situation he touches the car. Hands on. I love it. It’s a subtle but effective bit. “Outsourcing vs. Insourcing.” I mean, it’s almost like they bothered to test the phrasing out before hand. Catchy. Pithy. Nice!
It’d be a B effort at best from a Republican operative but from the Left? I give it an A-.
Romney campaign’s missteps have some Republicans grumbling | Reuters
I’d be grumbling too.
Jet-skiing?
What freaking cliche.
What does he think this is, the late eighties???
He is, if nothing else, completely out of touch with his fellow Americans.
This is going to be a race of who is better at not appearing detached, out of touch, removed, above it all, ivy league preppy.*
*I just thought of a little comic strip. One panel is a young Barack Obama (say like 17-23 or so) sitting around with some 70’s out style. I’m thinking a toned down tailored look with some hip around the edges. A sculpted slight fro, slightly flared pants, a wider belt and a button down with a 70’s sized but not necessarily disco collar. Someday perhaps I’ll be know for my education & not my race…
And here we are. Obama vs Romney, draw them the same in except barack has a cooler tie on or something. both really, really ivy league prep though.
hmmmmm need more work
Erika Christakis on School-Bus Bullies: Who’s to Blame? | TIME Ideas | TIME.com
No fucking shit.
She might have been a nice old lady but she sure as hell sucked at her job. She should have been given a nice severance package and the kids sent to detention for a few weeks. End of story.
(But no,…. over reactionary nanny state society has it upside down as usual.)
Modern Parenting: Do We Really Need to Reinvent the Wheel? | TIME Ideas | TIME.com
Ah-yup.
A bit off topic from the theme but I found this bit timely:
Michael Kimmel, author of Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men, said that the “big social science story of the 21st century,” is not the difference between girls’ and boys’ brains, but rather their similarities. There is more variation among boys than there is variation between boys and girls, Kimmel and Thompson argued.
(Although it pisses me off that people have to be told thizs in this day and age; our society has gone backwards in the last 15 years. I blame the nannny state type hovering psycho attentive driving society back to a fantasy of the white suburban fifties that never existance newly minted moms.)

Is Wayne Brady Gonna Have to Choke a Bitch? | Alas, a Blog
Isn’t it just as much a stereotype to say an African American man can’t be strong and defend himself without being a thugs with a gun tucked in his waistband as it is to assume that every African American man is tough and mean (a.k.a anti-Wayne Brady)
Man o chevitss.
This guy is as racist as the stereotype he complains about.

the officers should all be convected of murder one and sentenced to the maximum penalty.
if cops never have consequences for the assaults and murders they commit they will never have any reason to stop.
