Go back and read what actually happened with DADT. Was it Clinton’s idea? No, you ignorant, holier than thou cunts. It was a compromise.Besides no DADT means no repeal of DADT.
What do you think would have happened if there wasn’t a civil-law mandate to change military policy? Do you think the military brass, who were all promoted because of their ability to work within the existing system, would have just made it OK to serve openly on their own without the courts, elected officials and public opinion all pushing them in that direction at once? Really?
And yes, equality is awesome. Seriously though, I am beyond impatient for modern-day civil rights to start benefitting more than one group of people. I hope the wins for equality keep coming. I hope some of the momentum adds power to efforts protecting women’s civil rights, and flows into other important but not as well funded or organized efforts. Justice System reform for example.
