Infantry now shut to women; do they want it open? – SFGate
1.) who pitched this?
2.) hmmmm.
3.) nice interviews…. 12 servicepeople, huh? no chance they will not be able to speak freely or that they were cherry picked. what a great sample!
4.) et tu, AP? journalism is truly dead, isn’t it?
5.) “I enjoy supporting the soldiers,” – My, how feminine of her. And how interesting that she doesn’t include herself in that group.
6.) (Most) “Army women… didn’t want fighting jobs and many felt the issue was being pushed by “feminists” not representing the majority,” Interesting, what study was again RAND? Were the answers anonymous? How does this compare to the views of men and/or superiors among the same troops.
7.) Given the choice between a man of a more delicate and diminutive build and just about any adult Samoan woman in a position on the front lines, I’d take the big, strong, lady.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say that there a lot of women clambering for combat positions in today’s military but that isn’t the point. It certainly isn’t the point of this article either though. In terms of the issue the point is that all jobs should be open to anyone who is able to perform then. No one should be ruled out based on sexuality, race, religion or gender.
The point of the article clearly is that combat is unladylike and any good woman in the military know their ladylike place: a supporting role.
