Someone I have a vague amount of respect for posted this story facebook with a comment about bullying, So often it is the adults, we can’t tolerate this from authority figures, we must be vigilant, we must educate and change attitudes and the choice tid bit, “Bullying has been so ingrained for so long that these “adults” think it is appropriate.”

Sighhh.

Shame this kid has such a bad reaction.

Bullying?

Seriously?

Hasn’t the GBLT community ever heard of crying Wolf? E-V-E-R-Y negative thing done to a teenager these days is bullying. News flash dipshits, sometimes people are just inconsidorate and that is all this is. Get over it and yourselves before you totally invalidate the very real issue of stopping bullying of GBLT teens. Assholes.

Drop the bullshit and call it what it is, the techer, perhaps through ignorances, was inconsidorate. Since she wasn’t burning the candle while the child who was making an issue of it was in class she probably even thought she was complying.

For the teen? Nut oil happens. Don’t eat it. Did you fail Spanish because of a candle? Doubt it.

As for the bullying? It is far from clear the techer new burning the candle in the room when the child wasn’t there would cause any effect, let alone a harmful one so how the fuck is that bullying? How about the teenager who fails Spanish and gets her teacher’s name smeared all over the national news for bullying? who the fuck is realy the bully here?

PS – Educate all you want asswipes. No one ever in the history of history ever change anyone’s ideas with that attitude.

  1. This was a horrible experience that my daughter had to go through. Danielle was tormented by Lynn Swanson and her candle that contained nut oils from January 2012 until May 2012. In January, she was ordered to remove the candle, but she obviously did not. Danielle remained sick for the entire semester, but I could not figure out why. I did not think that Lynn Swanson would actually continue to burn this candle knowing that Danielle is so allergic to nuts. In May, Danielle walked in Lynn Swanson's class unexpectedly and the candle was burning. I was furious. I went to the principal, Roy Perren, to let him know what Danielle walked in on and to request a meeting with Lynn Swanson in his presence. In that meeting that May afternoon, Lynn Swanson admitted to knowing the candle contained nut oils, she said she did not think it would be a big deal because her classroom was rather close to the clinic and Danielle's epi-pen, and she admitted to me that she had burned the candle all semester but blew it out before Danielle entered the room. I requested this teacher be reprimanded for what she knowingly did to Danielle, but the state of Georgia failed Danielle and nothing was done to this teacher.Every year paper work is filled out to ensure the proper measures are taken to keep Danielle safe while she is at school. A Section 504 is completed yearly for Danielle and her teachers and other staff members are made very aware of Danielle's condition. It was not asking too much of Lynn Swanson to remove this candle from the school. Lynn Swanson repeatedly abused Danielle by making her suffer numerous allergic reactions while she knew what was causing it. Lynn Swanson would make Danielle wait for a clinic slip before she could leave the classroom when she would have an allergic reaction because of her abuse. Lynn Swanson seemed to gain joy from watching a child feel such discomfort. Lynn Swanson abused my daughter, Towns County High School Administration failed Danielle, Towns County Board of Education Members failed Danielle, and the State of Georgia failed Danielle when they did not reprimand this educator who repeatedly abused my child for months. After Danielle's story aired on CBS Atlanta, Danielle was taunted and ridiculed because she came forward about the abusive situation that she was in while she was in Lynn Swanson's class. Many students came up with a "plan" to "test" Danielle to see how allergic she is to nuts. Their plan was to rub nut products on her to see what would happen. A student attempted to run us off the road and his brother brandished a gun at my family. Faculty members would make snide remarks to Danielle about her allergy to nuts. The only advocate that Danielle had at Towns County High School was a new Assistant Principal, Jonathan Gibson. Since Jonathan Gibson has been at Towns County High School, Danielle feels like she can go to school and know that someone is there to protect her and that is something that my family and I appreciate. Allergies are a very serious condition, but so easy to control with respect for one's safety.
