“please pray for X police officer who was shot tonight..”

OK, it is a terrible tragedy that someone got shot and I wish strength and healing to the victim and their loved ones.

But there a lot of us, human being types. How many others got shot tonight? Did anyone get shot by a cop tonight in this big country of ours? Are we being asked to pray for them?

(Pray vs. Send Good thoughts – If I identify as anything it is as an Episcopalian, and as such I reserve the right not to be bandying my thoughts about God all over the place and telling other people to pray. Like, if they were the praying type this wouldn’t have occurred to them already!!!)

If I was to pray I would pray for innocent gun shot victims, why would I pray harder for someone just because of their job? Pray for an innocent gun shot victim, yes. Pray for someone’s safety because they are a cop? No. I won’t.

If I was to pray I would pray for the safety of the American people FROM cops, not the safety of someone who willingly enters a dishonorable profession and stays there once the blinders have been removed from their eyes as to what the job really entails.

How many people cops treated unfairly or even victimized tonight? Who is praying for them?
