OK I admit it. Google is a handy place to keep a response journal.
Watching the 30 for 30 Sox movie.
The reason that fan bases like the Red Sox or bleeding heart liberal Dems get so resentful is purely defensive.
If you engage a fan like that, they are in it for the long haul to perhaps bitter end; hearts ripped open bleeding with each trial and soaring with each triumph. If your a team that’s know to blow it, the fans might be understandable wary of the possible anguish supporting X brings.
They are traumatized by the thought of going there again but they will drag themselves to do it again if they have a very good reason.
That is the mentality of the Sox fan entering the 4th game of the 2004 ALCS, watching them bobble it for the lead and reaching the 9th inning down by 1.
Shellshocked but still enthusiastic and hopeful down the last few outs.
Transfixed like a stupid person staring down the oncoming light of a train.
Every once in a great while, like winning the lottery or something, big things turn out right. Forgive the inclusion of the Sox in with big things if you aren’t a sports fan but a big win for a big fan base makes a lot of people happy. That’s always a good thing.
