Solar Eclipse to Sweep North America on Sunday, May 20th
Shucks.
What goes through my my mind when I read the news with my morning coffee. …Or for the Simon's Rockers in the group, this is my response journal.
Mark Hyman, MD: Three Hidden Ways Wheat Makes You Fat
the world is a nuanced place.
anyone who can point to one issue and say that is the cause of it all probably isn’t worth listening to.
yet all of the theories (corn syrup, wheat is satan, etc. etc.) take a look at one aspect of typical diet instead looking at the whole.
sure, we’re genetically altering and bleaching the nutrition out of our food. the result is a physiology that is more sensitive and more likely to be intolerant certain food stuffs.
as for going after any source…
well, to be polite the sample group is likely to be flawed.
man cannot and does live on bread alone.
‘The Ocean of Life’—And the Sorrow Beneath the Sea – The Daily Beast
Sigh.
no, actually “grrrrrr,” not “sigh.” and a little bit of mumbling about how much I hate Obama.
Search for Missing F.B.I. Agent Goes On For 2nd Day – NYTimes.com
so they are not afraid he’s not going to hurt anyone else?
they are concerned because he might hurt himself?
this merits 100 people searching for him?
and a tertiary point is that he has access to a lot of national security information? …but there is no concern about that, it’s just a bunch of concerned co-workers on a manhunt because they care?
bullshit.
J.P. Morgan: Ina Drew to retire after trading loss – MarketWatch
The interesting thing to speculate about on this story is not that this JP Morgan screwed up. It’s not even that they lost that much money. It’s that I think this guy who is taking the fall was good at his job, smart about finance, etc. etc.
Circumstances that led to a disclosure of this kind must be crazy behind the scenes.
It almost makes you think they were doing things as they normally did and then were unable to cover in the usual way and a normal enough number, which normally would have been swept under a rug of bs, was disclosed.
I wonder what is different now.
CNN is blabbering on for a minute or two every fifteen minutes about this issue this morning. “Why are the candidates focusing on social issues? Why aren’t they talking about the economy? If the economy is the main concern of voters, why aren’t we seeing some big, bold plans from the candidates?” Interesting story. Except CNN doesn’t seem to think it is particularly interesting either. They have zero on their website about it and they are tucking it in in between John Edward’s trial, Mark Zuckerberg, the Yahoo Executive getting busted padding his interview and the JP Morgan 2 billion dollar loss. Just more trite tabloid fodder I guess. Now they are having this bullshit debate where one of guys says people don’t want to talk about economics, it’s not as interesting as gay marriage. Voters don’t like answers and the discussion bores them. Right because when peopel are starving and scared about housing their kids talking about gay marriage is the best way to address those problems. The guy they have on to refute this fece is a writer for ESPN -because yo know, a write for a sports network is the best person to discuss the fucking economy. I suppose he is equally as capable and less grating than the other douchebag they have talking.
Obama’s gay marriage stance sets off money rush – chicagotribune.com
someone asked me last night what I thought of this.
I said it is a smart play.
Obama is losing the support of his progressive base. He had to give them something because he sure as heck isn’t going to improve education, put teeth in the EPA, go after the individuals responsible for the banking and mortgage crisis, lift up the poverty stricken, unions, create jobs for the middle class, support small business, refuse to compromise on women’s reproductive issues, or address the race and economic class based caste system being created by our nation’s injustice system, etc. etc…
If he has to pick one special interest group on the left to cave in to, why not pick the group that is the best organized and well funded? And if you can appeal to that group with an issue that basically no one on the left will disagree with you on you can collect a lot of other passes on all of the other issues the left cares about.
Smart play.
ok, to split hairs, there aren’t that many people, on the left or otherwise, that prioritize changing the justice sytem so we don’t end up with a mostly race but also socio-economic class caste based society as one of their top issues. true story
Bristol Palin Weighs In On Obama’s Gay Marriage Support
and America’s poster child for why absintence only education and trying to pretend sex only happens during marriage between a man and a woman doesn’t work out speaks out. Good grief.
have a child in wedlock or a marriage to refer to and then talk, until then sit down and shut up.
you know that guy who isn’t in your child’s life? your parents tried to make you marry him even though there was no way it work out. put that in your pipe and smoke it.
