Neil Diamond Surprises Red Sox Fans With ‘Sweet Caroline’ (Video) – The Hollywood Reporter
Um, no… They do not. They play Take Me Out To The Ballgame during the 7th inning stretch at Fenway. They wait until the 8th inning -and everyone is back in their seats after the beer stands close- to play Sweet Caroline. Duh!
Awesome that he flew himself out there. Makes the fact that he was singing over a recording of himself make a lot more sense.
So cool Neil, thank you. You know, maybe you’re right, Maybe that song does have a little bit of God in it.
Even if half the home-town crowd didn’t get it, it was unexpected, inspiring, classy move to play Sweet Caroline at Yankee stadium. It was powerful to see parks across the country play it this week. All of that was sorrowful though. The first time it’s played at home? That’s a comforting hallmark. Taking the song back home signifies that the worst over and Boston’s strength carried the town through to brighter days.
Flying yourself in to see if you can sing along with the Boston fans to your song? Very cool, thanks Neil.
