As usual, I hate the headline but these guys are tons more effective than a thousand of me could ever dream of being so who am I to quibble?

Hmmm.

My first comment would be why do thoughtful, intelligent people always leave out the role of media in socialization. It’s like the right did a jedi mind trick on liberals and they can only talk about drops in the bucket like porn or video games? Media is more than that. It is the written word, film, TV, advertisements, games, apps, internet, the google search matrix. No one is socialized by one activity. It has to be more pervasive.

…And whether media socialization and reinforcement of stereotypes and behaviors is orchestrated or not it certainly is pervasive.

Think of the portrayals of single black men. Think of the portrayals of women in the workforce. It might be that Wonderwoman is less popular than Batman but how did we get here? What are the trends in advertisements and primetime television?
