If Not Two States, Then One – NYTimes.com
The government of Israel are international criminals and we bankroll them so we are their crime boss.
It is a disgusting state of affairs.
If it was not for the atrocities of WWII, the world community would turn its back and let the entire country be overrun and wiped off the planet. As it is, the government of Israel and anyone who supports settling on land owned by others push the bounds of good will. It is disgusting how the government of Israel manipulations the atrocities that happened to Jewish people of Europe into justification of an oppressive, racist caste system and land-theft.
I for one, am to the point where I wouldn’t be happy about the violence but I imagine I would ultimately support armed Palestinian action to retrieve land stolen from them since the borders were originally drawn up. If it is moral and just for Israel to defend itself and wantonly kill their neighbors, then by the same logic it must also be just and moral for Palestine to use force to defend itself. Any other position is beyond illogical.
The Israeli government can whine and cry all it likes but it acts like a thug. Theft has consequences. If it truly gave a shit about the safety of its citizens, the government of Israel would stop oppressing and instigating war with its neighbors.
I feel for the people of Israel but not as much as I feel for the people of Palestine. They really get the short end of the stick through no other cause than an accident of birth and fate.
It can not be that Israeli lives are more important than the lives of the people they ruin by removing any semblance of a good and normal life. Imprisoning people along racial and religious lines in ghettos exactly like the Nazis threw the Jews of Europe into is not defensible. It wasn’t then and it isn’t now. What is next? Gassing citizens the Israeli government finds undesirable? Truly it does seem like if the government thought they could get away with concentration camps and genocide they would already be doing it.
It’s a shame really because I love the idea of Israel and I love the idea of kibbutz’s. Not if their foundations are built on the bloody soil of a people oppressed, imprisoned, and driven from their homes for no other reason than race and religion though.
I really wish the Israeli government would stop acting like Hitler gearing up for genocide.
