Katy Perry’s Aversion to Feminism Shows Feminism Is Still Radical – Noah Berlatsky – The Atlantic
If feminists wanted other empowered women to call themselves feminists they made a shitload of serious misteps.
Feminism, like most well-intentioned progressive movements, is a fairly judgement, you’re either with us or against us movement. They are quick to hate, slow to accept other points of view and quick to dismiss as “less than” people who do not live up a strict litnus test.
I’m an empowered woman and I would never call myself a feminist?
Why?
Because in many circles that is tantamount to calling my self a judgmental, uptight asshole.
If feminists have a problem with that they need to start with the problem staring at them in the mirror and knock off putting down other empowered women or be consigned to dustbin of failed movements.
