“Michelle Obama does not talk a lot about race.”
Mmmmmmm, well, I haven’t seen any quotes about race he was elected.
“In Africa, however, Michelle Obama has been welcomed as the daughter of a continent she has only visited a handful of times”
Again with the Mmmmmmm. I think specifically she was welcomed in South Africa. Africa is a big place and honestly I’d be curious to see what conversations she had about race elsewhere on the continent but if I was an Obama adviser I wouldn’t let her go anywhere but South Africa until he was reelected.
That’s what I want my kids to understand — that your family is Granny in Kisumu, but it’s also your cousin in Moneygall. That is your history. That is really the American history.”
Dayum, she’s changed her tune! It’s a little thing but it is heartening to see her saying non-divisive, non-inflammatory things about race (remember her blacks like Clinton because they are afraid of success bit? Yikes!) when she does speak about the subject in public. (Not that I mean she doesn’t have the right to have opinions of her own and all. I am speaking totally in terms of preserving BHO’s re-election viability.)
But then again her advisers seem tons savvier than Barack’s in terms of presenting an appealing image.
