Time to redefine the term `pro-Israel’ – The Plum Line – The Washington Post
hmmm.
I agree with this. … Mostly.
I get stuck on the Jewish state thing.
The irony of the Jews making their nation one based on a test of race and religion is ugly.
I have a problem with any country, -anywhere, under any circumstances- being so singularly identified with one religion to the exclusion of all others.
Personally if I were Palestinian I would be a lot more likely to recognize Israel’s right to exist than I would it’s right to exist as a Jewish state. To be honest, aI have trouble seeing the justification for anyone accepting that Israel should be a Jewish state.
Sure, have a country.
A completely Jewish country?
Formed on a land populated by people who aren’t Jewish?
Well… I don’t support that any more than I would support Sharia Law being the law of any land.
That’s how I find myself in the position of seeing Hamas’s point of view. I think the Israeli government is a huge, institutionally racist bully too.
Supporting any religious state seems awfully un-American and I’m uncomfortable with my tax dollars going to prop it up.
