What Progressives Don’t Understand About Obama – NYTimes.com

If this is what passes for an Op-Ed at the venerable grey lady these days I weep for the future of journalism.

This man manages to say absolutely nothing and yet spew a lot of self-important bullshit at the same time.

No dude, you’re clearly so into the habit of having touting your own opinion – no matter what- that you can’t even see other people’s opinions for what they are.

So, what you are saying is that white people are spoiled jerks and everyone else is reasonable. Sure, because that sort of thing (being a good person) is clearly restricted along race lines, right?

Why stop short of calling white progressives racists in their lack of support for the President? Clearly it’s what you were getting at but you were just too much of a pussy to come and say it. You didn’t stop short of being racist against whites yourself, so why not just go all the way and call them racist too?

Newsflash moron: Progressives aren’t used to getting what they want. None of them are. (Um, duh!) Progressives are seeing the President who convinced them he had similar ideals to their own capitulating to the opposition and declining to take up the agenda he promised them would be his priority. That’s not a black, white or brown issue. That is a two-faced incompetent liar issue.

There is an argument to be made that the Democratic Party might have been better off if Carter had simply not run again. President Kennedy Part II anyone?

My favorite kind of reprehensibly hypocritical bigotry is when the case is made that no white person can be as a good a person as someone who is not white. That exact kind of logic is how enslaving hundreds of thousands of Africans and their descendants was justified. The thinking was that no matter how much the black person elevated themselves they were simply a lesser race and genetically incapable of being equal to white people.

This same logic made it possible for opportunities to be restricted along race lines for better part of the last 150 years. Now you employ this very same logic to explain why white progressive don’t like Obama anymore. Your conclusion? They just are not capable of being as good a progressive as their Hispanic and African American brethen. By virtue of birth alone, blacks and Hispanics are better people. Oh, how far we’ve come!

I hope you realize that MLK is rolling in his grave as you spit on all of the caucasians who marched with him. You might want to take a gander at the last chapter or two of Malcolm X’s biography. You know the ones, where he decides all people of all races are brothers???

Your personal color by number fantasy continues with,

The implication being that all whites have more money than all Hispanics and African Americans. In fact there isn’t a single unemployed, under-employed or poverty stricken white person in this great country of ours, right? In your alternative reality white people never struggled against the robber barons to unionize, there is poverty in Appalacia and there is no such thing as “white trash.”

When you are done playing make pretend perhaps you will come down to earth and realize that Obama is not the coolest guy in the room. If he was, he might have done something to stem the losses the African American middle class has sustained on his watch and take steps to retain the incredible economic progress that has been made in that community over the last two generations.

Maybe you won’t let reality shine in on the darkness in your heart and mind. Either way I pity you.
