The Monitor is wrong. France should ban wearing the facial veil in public.  If they need to cover their face they should stay home.

Also, Iran is wrong to impose mandatory headscarves.

Lastly, I’m not so sure Pakistan doesn’t have groups that take it up on themselves to impose codes of dress. It seems a little suspect that an area which is a haven for Islamic extremists and their guerrilla groups would be the only part of the Middle East not to have men pressuring women to cover up their everything because the men were raised poorly enough that they are not able to take responsibility for their own actions at the sight of the female form. (You know, the reason they’re so hot to trot about the veiling? ‘Cause they can’t take responsibility for their own actions? You know, like grown men do?)

It would be rally nice if I was wrong about Pakistan.
