Israel and Gaza: How Israel plays into Hamas’s hands | The Economist
In addition to being absolute bullying assholes about Gaza, Israel;s government has played it strategically wrong from the beginning.
The Israeli government asked Gaza for an election and claimed to support self-determination for the Gaza strip. …Well, support it as long as the vote went the way Israeli government wanted apparently.
When the results came in as something that Israel leadership and their patsy, the US, didn’t like (think Hamas) and both have tried to invalidate the election ever since. Make up your minds dicks. Either you support Palestinians’ right to decide who their own leadership is or you don’t. You don’t get to support an election only if you like the people who are elected. (Trust me!) Well, unless you are the Israeli government of course. Because we all know that they get special rights and rules and privileges because they are just better than anyone else in the region. As if, you self-centered adolescents….
What has happened instead of finding a way to deal peaceably with the newly elected leadership of Gaza (like, say, an adult would do) is that the Israeli government has burned up all of the goodwill they ever had with their neighbors. OK, there wasn’t much goodwill or trust to begin with, but that is the government of Israel’s own fault for not staying inside their borders, treating everyone else with visible contempt, disregarding the humanity of any other peoples, and trying to equate killing hundreds of civilians with sporadic small attacks that usually don’t have a death toll. Attacking with tanks is a fair response to getting rocks thrown at you by children, right??? Um, not!
I can’t think of a fascist, totalitarian, racist, leadership or a framework for a segregated state that deserves the bad press more.
